The focus of the Managed Services area of our business is to run both applications and platforms on behalf of our customers.
We have a unique and proven capability to operate/run/support complex platforms composed of many different software applications integrated together, especially for the Media & Entertainment industry.
The key benefit our customers see from engaging ioko in this way is that using us reduces time to market, cost, risk and complexity. In essence, it allows our clients to focus on strategic IT matters whilst we perform the day-to-day operations in an effective and low cost way.
There are many challenges in operating the type of platforms we run:
- They need to be highly scalable applications capable of servicing bases of millions of consumers performing complex application transactions
- The platforms we run are often very complex, they often include many different off-the-shelf software products, many have complex integrations with our customer's existing business systems
- They need to be highly available - for example many of our customers are looking for "TV like" availability across Web and mobile
- The platforms need to support a high pace of change as the offering evolves quickly
Over the past ten years we have evolved our people, process and tool-set to be able to cope with these challenges. The toolset / process that underpins our Managed Services is highly evolved and has required a $25m investment to build it into a highly effective service delivery framework that allows us to manage complex platforms to extremely high levels of availability whilst allowing great flexibility and a rapid pace of change.
Sometimes ioko is asked to operate platforms from top-to-bottom on behalf of customers i.e. the applications run on hardware platforms deployed in ioko Data Centers around the world and ioko provide all the services to ensure the application is available and performing. Other times, we are asked to perform these services out of our customer's data centers or operate part of a platform for our customers. We have the flexibility in our service delivery processes to be able to offer either approach depending on the particular needs and requirements of our customers.
In most scenarios it is not just an ioko team that makes up the support model. Often there are third-party suppliers or internal teams that support different components of the platform. We have the capability to take on the overall support for the platform and co-ordinate responses to incidents for teams outside of our organization.
We offer a wide variety of shared services to our customers via our data centers that customers can make use of if their requirements don't require a dedicated infrastructure. These shared services include storage, backup, various security protection platforms, satellite facilities, ingest systems etc.

An important aspect of the Managed Services area of our business is the data centers and infrastructure provisioning services that we provide to our customers.
ioko's data centers are distributed across Europe and North America and are very high-end facilities with specific facilities appropriate to Telecommunications, Media & Entertainment companies.
Infrastructure provisioning involves buying/leasing hardware and software, deploying this equipment to data centers, lighting them up etc.
Our capabilities around managing complex applications are truly industry leading and we are continually evolving our capability in this space as new technologies and approaches become available. Whether this is using new application deployment tools or making best use of Infrastructure Virtualization techniques or the latest and greatest load testing toolsets.
